This Privacy Policy applies to BEGU Deals — the website begudeals.com and the BEGU Deals mobile app (Android package com.begu.app). It explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.
1. Who we are
BEGU Deals is operated by BEGU Corporation OÜ, Ahtri tn 12, Kesklinna linnaosa, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia, which is the data controller. Regional office: Galerie Omega, Avenue de la Paix, Poto-Poto, Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, password (stored only in hashed form), display name, username, preferred language and, if you use "Sign in with Google", the name and email address Google shares with us.
- Phone number: only if you choose to sign in with your phone number.
- Profile data you add: profile photo, city, and any seller verification documents you choose to upload.
- Listings: title, description, price, category, photos and city or area.
- Messages: the text, photos, PDF files, voice notes and locations you send in conversations.
- Location: approximate or precise location, only after you allow it, to show listings near you or to share a location in a conversation. We do not track your location in the background.
- Camera and microphone: used only when you take a photo, record a voice note or make an in-app call. Calls connect directly between the two devices and are never recorded or stored.
- Fingerprint / Face ID: the check happens entirely on your device. We never receive fingerprint or face data; we only store a public passkey credential and whether verification succeeded.
- Usage data: pages or screens opened, searches and taps on the share button, linked to your account ID or, if you are not signed in, to a one-way hash of your IP address.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and error logs (device model, operating system, app version, the error). Emails, phone numbers, access tokens and IP addresses are removed before they are sent.
- Safety data: reports you submit, users you block and moderation actions.
3. How we use your data
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To publish your listings and let buyers and sellers talk to each other.
- To verify accounts and prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and to enforce our Terms.
- To show relevant listings and improve the service with aggregated statistics.
- To find and fix crashes and errors.
- To answer your requests and meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and BEGU Deals shows no ads.
4. What other users can see
- Other users see your public profile (display name, username, photo, city, verified badge) and your listings.
- Your messages are visible only to you and the other person in the conversation, and to BEGU moderators when a conversation is reported.
- Your email address, phone number and verification documents are never shown publicly.
5. Service providers
We share personal data only with providers that process it for us, under contract, for the purposes above:
- Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage and real-time messaging.
- Hostinger: website hosting.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA): crash and error reporting.
- Expo (650 Industries, Inc., USA): delivery of app updates.
- Google: "Sign in with Google" (only if you use it) and connection set-up for calls.
- Twilio: SMS codes for phone sign-in, and connection set-up for calls.
- Our email delivery provider: account and security emails.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our users.
6. International transfers
Some providers are located outside your country, including in the United States. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to personal data is limited by strict per-account security rules, and passwords are stored only in hashed form.
8. How long we keep data
- Account and profile data: while your account is active.
- Listings: until you delete them or your account is deleted.
- Messages: while the conversation exists; after an account is deleted, its message contents are deleted or anonymised within 30 days.
- Reports, blocks and moderation records: up to 12 months, to protect users and prevent banned accounts from returning.
- Crash reports and error logs: up to 90 days.
- Usage statistics: up to 24 months, then deleted or kept only in aggregated form.
- Data we must keep by law: for the period the law requires.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and data at any time: in the app, open Account and tap "Delete my account", or visit https://begudeals.com/legal/account_deletion. We delete your account within 30 days. You can delete your listings and edit your profile yourself at any time.
10. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to or restrict some processing. You can withdraw permissions (location, camera, microphone) at any time in your device settings. You may also complain to a data protection authority; in Estonia, the Andmekaitse Inspektsioon (www.aki.ee).
11. Children
BEGU Deals is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that a child has created an account, we delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, inform you in the app or by email.
